The Airbus A380, an aviation prodigy, made its maiden flight in April 2005. Today, almost exactly sixteen years later, an aircraft of the series took off for its last maiden flight. The A380 with the construction number MSN 272 said its final goodbyes today from its “birthplace” in Toulouse.

MSN 272 is now headed for Hamburg. There, the A380 will receive its complete interior and paint job. At the moment, only the already painted vertical stabilizer and the engines bear witness to the future owner of the giant jet. Once all the work has been completed, Emirates will be the proud owner of the very last Airbus A380. As we reported last September, however, a special era is coming to an end for the Airbus plant in Toulouse. To pay tribute to the past two decades of the A380, the MSN 272 flew an extra lap over the plant. The Youtube channel “Eurofilm – Aviation” captured this special moment:

At the moment, it is not yet clear exactly when the MSN 272 will make its first flight for Emirates. Given the current circumstances, it could still take some time. However, we are convinced that when the time comes, the “last first A380” will offer a special flight experience for every passenger.
