There is a new joint venture in aviation. Etihad Airways and Air Arabia have joined forces and launched a new low-cost airline: Air Arabia Abu Dhabi. Plans for this were already known since October last year, now they have been put into action. In the last few days, the first flights of the new carrier were operated.

But what will make this joint venture successful? Simply put, the airline combines lucrative factors from its parent companies. Low prices from Air Arabia and the Abu Dhabi International hub of Etihad Airways. With this combination, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi tries to meet the growing demand for low-cost short and medium-haul flights.

We are proud to launch Air Arabia Abu Dhabi operations today with the first flight to Alexandria. This joint venture between Etihad and Air Arabia will offer the nation’s citizens and residents a great new option for air travel from the UAE’s vibrant capital city. We look forward to expanding our codeshare partnership to provide more connections to and from Etihad’s global network onto Air Arabia Abu Dhabi’s growing list of destinations.

Furthermore, it was already announced in January: the new carrier will become a national airline of the United Arab Emirates. With its current two Airbus A320s, the future for the new joint venture looks very promising. Not so long ago, we also reported in WingMag about another joint venture in Abu Dhabi: Wizz Air Abu Dhabi
