Bad news for all aviation enthusiasts. In an official statement, the organizers of AIX Hamburg today announced that the leading aviation trade fair, originally scheduled for March 30th to April 2nd, 2020, has to be postponed. The reason is the COVID-19 virus, Corona for short.
Katie Murphy, Portfolio Director of the organizer Reed Exhibitions, made it clear that the health and safety of exhibitors, visitors and personnel is a top priority. Therefore, she said, the best possible alternative date in the second half of 2020 for the Aircraft Interiors Expo is now being sought.
Furthermore, the cancellation also affects the Crystal Cabin Awards. As in previous years, the awards ceremony was to take place during AIX Hamburg. Due to the fact that the trade fair has not yet been able to announce a new date, a different method has been chosen here. The final evaluation of the nominated projects will take place in a remote format. Connoisseurs of the Crystal Cabin Award will remember this procedure from previous years. This is how the guest category “Best Customer Journey Experience” was carried out. The winners of the CCA can thus be announced within the next six to eight weeks
Like everyone else involved, we at WingMag are naturally sad that AIX 2020 in Hamburg has to be postponed. We have been feverishly awaiting the date for months, after we had wonderful days at the fair last year. But of course, safety first and foremost and we welcome the decision by Reed Exhibitions. All the more reason for us to look forward to being able to report on the new date soon.
