The final phase begins. Only 11 days left until the official BER opening. Admittedly, it has been a long way for the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport, but what has taken a long time finally seems to be getting good.
All preparations have been made for the BER opening on October 31st, when an Easyjet and a Lufthansa aircraft will land at the new airport. During the last months they have been practising diligently for a smooth operation. So far there have been almost 50 days of training for normal operation. A number of future employees together with a total of almost 10,000 extras rehearsed all operational procedures. From check-in to the baggage claim – all areas of BER have been thoroughly tested. This is why the operators are looking forward to the BER opening in a more relaxed manner. After all, thanks to the test run, they have already been able to adjust a few things. These include additional clocks, charging stations for mobile devices, but also larger waste bins.
All in all, all signs point to a successful BER opening. Even though due to the pandemic, airport operations will not run at maximum load right from the start.
