There are a few aircraft manufacturers of large passenger aircraft worldwide. However, it is still a field which is dominated by two companies in particular: Airbus and Boeing. Soon, however, there will be new competition from China. The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, or Comac for short, founded in 2008, with its Comac C919 passenger twin-engine aircraft.

The Comac C919 is not the first model of the aircraft manufacturer, however, the smaller Comac ARJ21, certified since 2016, was not entirely designed and built in China. Thus, the C919 will be the first twin-engine passenger aircraft made in China. There are already six prototypes of the model flying since 2017, but final completion and certification is still pending. According to the company, next year will see the aircraft go into regular service with up to 168 seats. The order figures are already impressive. Over 800 orders and letters of intent for the Comac C919 are already reported.

If certified successfully, the Comac C919 would be a serious competitor to Boeings 737 and the Airbus A320 family due to its capacity. At the same time, the Chinese aviation market is growing steadily, creating perfect conditions for the passenger twin-engine aircraft made in China.
