The Corona Pandemic is a tough challenge for the aviation industry. Airlines are trying to save and secure money at every turn so that they can survive. As a result, the crisis is also penetrating into deeper regions of the industry. Aircraft manufacturers are complaining about cancelled orders and, as a result, manufacturers of aircraft components are also in the middle of the crisis. However, there is one particular ray of hope for one parts supplier: the German seat manufacturer Recaro Aircraft Seating.

It sounds more surprising than ever in these times, but Recaro recently received the largest order in the company’s history. Indigo Partners ordered nearly 100,000 aircraft seats for its airline holdings. These include Wizz Air, which alone ordered 31,767 seats for new fleet members. Additional passenger seats are to be delivered to Frontier Airlines, Jetsmart and Volaris. The order is for SL3710 economy class seats only. It is the latest and lightest seat currently offered by Recaro Aircraft Seating and weighs around eight kilograms.

The more than 2700 Recaro employees now have a lot of work ahead of them. The new seats are to be installed as original equipment as early as next year. We at WingMag are delighted with Recaro Aircraft Seating and hope that more such rays of hope for suppliers will follow in the near future.
