Storm depression “Sabine” – More than 40 flights in Hamburg cancelled

1 minutes

Due to the storm depression “Sabine” the German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a storm warning. More than 40 flights were cancelled at Hamburg Airport. We at WingMag are also affected by this and have to switch to the road. At the moment, there are still rental cars available from the usual car rental companies at the airport. But if you still have connecting appointments, you should hurry up. The fleet could become scarce during the day!

Even in Frankfurt the first flights have already been cancelled. Currently, there is no more direct connection to Great Britain.

Train passengers might be lucky. Although ICE train rides are also cancelled, Deutsche Bahn is prepared for this and has lifted all train bindings from today till 11th February. Rail travellers can now take earlier connections to avoid a possible connection failure, as announced by Deutsche Bahn on Twitter. By this, the train tickets will not lose their validity.

In general, travellers can only hope for the goodwill of the airlines and the railway, because storm “Sabine” counts as “force majeure”, which cancels compensation claims by travellers.
