For weeks Austria, like most countries worldwide, has had strict entry restrictions. These apply in particular to passenger traffic at Austrian airports. If you cannot prove that you are Covid-19 negative on arrival, you are obliged to undergo a two-week quarantine. Now, the largest airport in the country, Vienna Airport, has reacted and offers PCR tests for 190 Euros.

Travellers at Vienna International Airport will have the choice starting tomorrow. Vienna International Airport is one of the first airports in the world to carry out PCR tests in cooperation with Confidence DNA Analysen GmbH. The aim is to provide arriving passengers in Vienna with an easing of Austrian entry restrictions and regulations. The use of the PCR test, for which a fee is charged, makes it possible to avoid a two-week quarantine. Provided, of course, that the test is negative. So far, the only alternative has been a valid health certificate which shows a negative Covid-19 result and is not older than four days.

In addition, PCR tests are not only available to new arrivals at Vienna International Airport. Passengers who start their journey from there can also be tested. This also makes it easier for them to return home if they do so within four days. The airport also underscores the fact that the PCR tests are also available to all others. So if you live near Vienna International Airport and would like to be certain of your infection status, this is also possible.

Finally, it is important to mention that the corresponding test results should be available within a few hours. In this way, a stay at Vienna Airport is kept as short as possible.
